Welcome to the Henry D. Lloyd Elementary School website!
Effective classroom instruction at Lloyd Elementary School is provided by competent, knowledgeable teachers who are facilitators of learners in a positive, student-centered environment that provides students with engaging and challenging opportunities. The differentiation of instruction is based upon data, as well as upon teacher awareness of their students' varying learning styles and multiple intelligences. The curriculum is designed to the Illinois learning standards. A diverse range of research-based teaching strategies is utilized to meet students' needs, including, but not limited to, connections to prior knowledge, modeling, collaborative group work, higher order thinking skills, learning centers, integration of technology and authentic learning experiences. The classroom itself is organized for optimal learning. The walls provide tools for self-managed learning and display authentic student work. Routines are established that empower students to take ownership of their learning on a daily basis. |
